Alaska fall fishing
Build your trip here

September Light Tackle / Fly Fishing Opportunities

For the light tackle or fly fisherman, September is prime time. Alaska-sized rainbow trout, sea run dolly varden, wild Alaskan steelhead & trophy grayling await. Our location on the lower Kenai Peninsula puts you in some of the best steelhead waters to be found. And our proximity to five (yes 5!) coastal streams makes Soaring Eagle the place to be in September.

Tell us what you’d like to pursue and we’ll put together a package that allows you to target any or all of the following:

  • Full day guided float on the upper Kenai River for catch and release rainbow trout and dolly varden. The upper river allows for wade fishing from gravel bars.
  • Full day guided powerboat trip on the Middle Kenai for trophy rainbows and/or silver salmon.
  • Full day guided drift boat fishing for silver salmon on the Kasilof River.
  • Half or Full day guided fishing on prime waters for catch & release wild Alaskan steelhead.
  • Half day guided small stream fishing for sea run dolly varden.
  • Full day fly out fishing for grayling – great top water / dry fly opportunities.
  • Full day fly out fishing to Crescent Lake (west) across Cook Inlet for late season silvers, lake trout and sea run dollies.
  • Self guided hike of 6 miles to Crescent Lake (east) and overnight in a Forest Service cabin. Trophy grayling fishing!
  • Full day guided canoe trip on the Swanson River trails targeting rainbow trout.
  • Halibut fishing out of Homer Alaska – the halibut fishing capital of the world. OK, so it’s not light tackle – but it is awfully good eatin’.
  • Guided clam digging for razor clams on the beaches of Ninilchik. We’ll put you there during the best tides and teach you how to clean your catch.
  • Or bring a 4wt & 7wt fly rod, or light spinning outfit and fish on your own. We’ll guide you for a day to show you how it’s done and then point you in the right direction.

And if you’d like to take a break from the fishing, there are numerous other adventures available.

Soaring Eagle Advantages:

  • Completely customizable trips allowing you to choose just the activities you want to do.
  • 5 coastal streams nearby – Why bank your entire trip on the whims of just one stream? You’ll have Deep Creek, the Ninilchik and the Anchor rivers literally just minutes from your cottage door. The Kasilof and Kenai rivers are a short drive away. More streams means more fishing options!
  • Enjoy clean comfortable beds and a hot shower after a long day on the rivers. All cottages come fully equipped with complete kitchens allowing you to eat-in as often as you like. Cottages photos
  • Our packages include many items for which other lodges charge extra. Our quote includes your airfare, car rental with unlimited mileage, lodging, food package, fish processing and packaging for home, and all of your guided trips. Or if you prefer, you may choose to book your own airfare or rental car.
  • Less people! As the summer travel season winds down you’ll find less folks on the roads, streams, and even at the grocery stores. Wonderful time to be here!

Call toll free 877-567-3273 or email for customized package price quote.
