Our
goal is to provide you the best fishing to be found on or
around the Kenai Peninsula during your visit. To accomplish
this very important goal we work with you to match your interests
and goals to the saltwater, rivers and streams in our area
to hit the many fish runs at or close to their peak. Our approach
assures you of a memorable and productive Alaska fishing experience.
One role of the staff and associates at Soaring Eagle Fishing
And Adventures is to provide a variety of fishing experiences
appropriate for each week of the fishing season. We are also
here to assist visiting fishermen in making wise fishing choices.
Our experienced guides and specialty charter operators know
how to fish these waters under a variety of fishing conditions
and are eager to share their knowledge with you.
The following information will give you a better understanding
of the Soaring Eagle fishing experience.
Cook Inlet and especially the area from Bluff Point to Deep
Creek offer by far the best, consistent, all around sport
fishing in Alaska. There is good to great fishing for salmon
and halibut in this area from May through August. We are located
squarely in the middle of this fine fishery.
Both Kachamak Bay and Cook Inlet offer king salmon fishing
during this entire summer season. This unusual fishing opportunity
is available because of the year round presence of feeder
king salmon from other parts of Alaska and Canada. Additionally,
spawning king salmon return to Kenai Peninsula rivers from
late April to early August.
The famous Kenai River, north of our property, has two runs
of king salmon each summer. The Kenai fish are the biggest
in the State of Alaska. Fish in the 40-80 lb. range are not
uncommon.
The Kasilof River, just south of the Kenai River, also has
two runs of king salmon. The second run of Kasilof fish reach
as much as 75 pounds, with 45-55 pound fish common.
The Ninilchik River, Deep Creek and the Anchor River all
enjoy large annual returns of salmon in the 16 to 45 lb league.
Each of these offers a delightful river fishing experience
and all within ten minutes of your Soaring Eagle cottage.
Because Soaring Eagle Fishing And Adventures is located in
the heart of this fishing, many of these fish pass right in
front of our location on their way to one of the local rivers.
One of the best times to visit is late July and August. The
wildflowers are in bloom, many visitors have returned home,
and you will enjoy some of the best weather and fishing of
the summer.
During periods of the summer, you will be at the only place
in the state where you can catch a king salmon, silver salmon,
red salmon, pink salmon, Dolly Varden, a rainbow trout and
a steelhead trout all in the same day. The kings, silvers
and dollies are available the entire time and the steelhead
fishing improves daily from mid August through October on
the local rivers. Few other locations provide such a consistently
good opportunity to catch this variety of fish.
We haven’t even talked about Halibut yet!
Halibut abound in Cook Inlet during the entire summer. These
are great eating fish and grow to the 400lbs. Hundreds of
halibut are caught each summer over one hundred pounds. Fish
in the 20-50 pound range are considered the best eating fish
and are the ones most commonly sought and retained. The larger
fish, particularly the females, are often released when caught
in order to perpetuate the species.
Fishing the Kenai River once in your life is a must. You
may select a full-day of guided fishing there. It is one of
the selections on your optional fishing list. . If your goal
is to experience other Alaska fishing, our optional trips
will provide you with many exciting fishing memories; there
are several optional fly-in trips available.
The
basic Soaring Eagle Fishing and Adventures weekly package
includes three days of guided fishing. Depending on the time
of the season these trips may include halibut, salmon and
possibly a fly out trip for the day. Again, depending on the
time of the visit, a Kenai or Kasilof River trip may be part
of the fishing agenda for the week. While we strongly encourage
several sightseeing adventures in the area additional fishing
trips can easily be added as an alternative.
Additionally, you can also decide to spend a few days on
your own fishing the local rivers and streams, using our equipment
if you prefer or you can bring some of your own. Guides are
available for this type of fishing for a reasonable fee but
are not absolutely necessary.
We would be happy to talk directly with you over the telephone
to answer any remaining questions and to help plan your fishing
expedition to meet your needs. You can also e-mail us and
we will get right back to you.
We love to talk about fishing in any form and at any time
so call for more information at any time.
